A graphic design student at Mansfield University, Kamryn Albrecht, illustrated children’s books at WETM television station.
Over the summer, WETM held an internship for local college students with a passion for art. The intern's jobs were to illustrate children's novels that were released in the public domain. When the stories were completed, WETM would read the stories on T.V. The program started the first week of May and ended the second week of September.
Albracht illustrated a total of three books: “Puss and Boots,” “The Red Hen” and “The Tortoise and the Hare.” Each book, depending on its length, took around a month to illustrate, which is why the internship leaked into the school year. She stated that for the last book, she had worked with a Mansfield alumnus from the graphic design program.
Albracht stated that she worked closely with one of Mansfield University’s graphic design professors, Michelle Lockwood. She also stated that she chose to participate in this internship for the experience and to keep herself busy during the pandemic. When asked, she said that this is something she could see herself doing in that future and was glad to have participated.
